As temporary structures, scaffolds are common in construction sites to support men and materials. But improper scaffolding can lead to the hazards of falls, injuries, and even fatalities. Find out the different types of scaffolds and how to ensure their safe use. Identify the responsibilities of a competent person tasked with overseeing scaffolding erection, safe use, inspections, and risk assessments. Know the fall protection systems such as guardrails and fall arresters, what they are made of, and how they work.
This scaffold erecting course is designed for both novice and experienced erectors who may be expected to erect, use and dismantle scaffolds while performing their daily duties in the working environment.
Learners who achieve the course objectives will, upon completion, be able to identify various scaffolds and components, understand legislative and SABS standards, apply scaffold safety and determine the stores required, foundation preparation and inspections on components before erection.
